Flexride Chassis Safety

Together with the FlexRide chassis and the electronic-hydraulic multi-disk coupling Adaptive 4×4 sets new standards according to the manufacturer regarding the reaction time of the control systems in the Insignia. When the sensors detect a dangerous situation, it takes eighty milliseconds (a glance) before the system sends the required power to each wheel. The power can be distributed seamlessly over the front and rear axle or between the rear wheels in a ratio of zero to one hundred percent. In contrast to the conventional mechanical four-wheel drive, the hydraulic system makes lightning-fast intervention possible.

About five percent of the 177 thousand Insignias ordered in Europe are equipped with four-wheel drive. The new adaptive 4×4 system is available with the 2-liter turbo petrol engine and is standard on the 2.8 V6 Turbo and the OPC version. In the Netherlands, prices start at 36,995 euros for the Opel Insignia 2.0 Turbo Edition with 220 hp.
